I know I keep saying how amazing Maui is, but it is just so green and pretty that amazing is the only word that seems to fit. Our next adventure was driving up to Haleakala. We had heard from several dozen people that without a doubt seeing the sunrise or the sunset on top of Haleakala was the key thing to do in Maui. We chose to see the sunset instead since we are quite fond of sunsets. This was an incredible experience.
I know I keep saying that but see for yourself.

The higher we got into the clouds the greener it was.

This is my future house, it has my gazebo and lavender fields. Russ even agreed to buy it for me...in my dreams!

I didn't like being up in the clouds, I felt a little claustrophobic.
This is Seattle weather
Suddenly, we were out of the clouds and we were amazed how light it was.
We stopped several times to take pictures on the way up.
Is this not the cutest baby on Maui?
It was high...and it was COLD! 45 degrees and notice we are all in shorts.
Every angle of the volcano
I tried to take pictures from every angle and every view. I didn't want to miss a thing about this moment.
We did a little hiking before we got down to the sunset business!
I felt on top of the world
It was hard to get a group photo
Note: I'm sorry about all the pictures, I just couldn't decide so I decided to post a bunch.
This is the view from heaven
Then it was over...and our lives were changed.
