Weston's Space Derby
Oops, I was going through some pictures today and I found these from earlier in the month. I think I was in Utah when they were taken because they do not look familiar to me. Russ is very patient with the boys and he lets them make and decorate their own cars & rockets. I've seen other dads who go totally crazy with this stuff but Russ is Mr. Calm. Weston ended up taking 2nd place after many broken elastics. I think the boys were lucky to get their rockets part of the way across. Of course, we forgot the camera the day of the derby but here are some of the building in progress.

Lunch with Siobhan
I've been doing so good lately. I've been walking every night and cutting back on sugar & processed foods. However, Siobhan invited me to lunch today and I broke down! Who can say NO to this little piece of heaven?

About that new job...well, it's not exactly the one that I wanted but it will get me back into working mode. I miss my Level I Nursery job and working with my babies. I will still be in Labor & Delivery but I will be taking care of the mama's after they deliver. I am hoping this will only be temporary until I can get back to my babies. I am sad to say goodbye to unemployment. I have loved being home with my littles and having the summer off. I start hospital orientation on September 20th so I'm going to enjoy the next few weeks off while it lasts.

School year 2010-2011
Skyler (Kate's BFF) & her mom decided to take KateLyn out to breakfast on her first day of school. I wasn't quite ready at 6:45 a.m. so these first two pictures were taken inside the house (I wasn't going outside in my jammies).
The temperature in Vegas is still over 100 degrees in the day, don't ask me how the kids manage to go out for recess & PE. However, the kids are happy to wear shorts until November. I was surprised most of the styles Kate wanted to buy this year included some sort of jacket/vest thing. I know it is in style...but c'mon it's hot here!

While the kids were tucked safely away at school, Torri and I went shopping and then to lunch at Bahama Breeze. Much to my surprise we found Halloween decorations in all of the stores. I'm just not ready for fall, I still want my summer and sleeping in! Oh, by-the-way...I also got a job today. I guess we really are back to reality.

Annual Back to school feast
Sunday we had our annual back-to-school-feast and fashion show. It turned into a fiesta since we decided to have Magic Chicken Enchiladas, homemade salsa & taco salad. Torri and Bryce came over for the event. We made the kids model their new clothes, pick-out school supplies from the official school-supply box and then we watched Diary of Wimpy Kid. Weston was happy he wasn't starting middle school this year after watching that movie.

Waitress Kate
Weston's Meets his teacher
Today was Weston's "Meet & Greet" at the Elementary school. While we were there we saw Khylee (Weston's friend that lives across the street). We carpool with her and they hang-out every day but they wouldn't get a picture taken together. It cracks me up that kids are so funny about stuff like this at this age. Give them a few years and it is a totally different story.

Go Seahawks!
While Weston was in Seattle, Wyatt took him to the Seahawks vs Green bay football game. He hasn't stopped talking about the game since. Here are some pictures Wyatt took at the game.
Seattle didn't know what was about to hit it
Since Weston had school all summer, Wyatt offered to let him come up to Seattle for a week to play. I thought this was an awesome idea...wink wink! Weston too was over the moon excited. He had his bags backed and ready to go a week before we left. As we were leaving Utah on Sunday, I told Wyatt that the stand-by ticket could be used as two tickets (one-way each). He looked at Kate and asked her if she wanted to go home with him too. Before I knew it she had grabbed her bag and hopped in his car too. Here is a picture of the kids eating ice cream in Seattle. It sounds like they had a fabulous time.

Sunday August 15, 2010
This is one of those days that will be burned into my memory forever. I've had some special experiences in my life but many of them pale in comparison to this one. We all met back at Lonnie's on Sunday morning to say our good-bye's. This is always the hardest part for me and I dread it. This journey is such an emotional roller coaster for me. I am a lover of peace and happiness. I hate sadness and being sad therefore, I try to look for only happiness in my life. I admit that I want the easy road paved in chocolate that has rainbows and unicorns but at the same time, I realize that this life is meant to be a very important test. I realize I am failing miserably at learning and growing in times of heartache and sorrow. Let's face it, I am not a good test taker! I also, don't like roller coasters anymore and I don't want to ride them. Especially when there is nothing I can do to stop the ride from taking the turbulent turns and down hill swoops.
Even though I am a nurse and I have seen people die, this experience of watching my brother slowly die has changed me forever. I simply can't wrap my brain around it. I don't want to lose my big brother! I have always wondered if it would be better to die quickly or to have time to say good-bye. Now after watching my big strong brother waste away to almost nothing, I say it has been much worse to watch him suffer than it was to quickly say good-bye to my mom only 10 years ago. The pain is still there either way, its just the anticipation of the pain that makes it feel much worse to me. Kind of like salt being poured into a wound over and over.
As we were saying our emotional good-byes Sunday afternoon, two Priests from the ward knocked on the door. They were there to offer my brother the sacrament. We've been there several times when they have come but this time it was different. We brought them to Lonnie's bedside and we helped these two awkward teenagers prepare to bless the sacrament while all of our scrutinizing eyes were upon them. We were kind of joking with them at first to lighten the mood but after they started the sacrament prayer, the mood quickly changed and you could have heard a pin drop. There was not a dry eye in the house. Taking the sacrament is such a simple thing and most of us are guilty of sometimes taking this important covenant for granted. This time it brought me to my knees as I thought of my Savior Jesus Christ and the trials he had to endure. I've never felt the spirit testify to me this strong before. I knew at that exact moment that our Savior hears our prayers and he has felt the same pain that we feel. He knows us and he loves each of us.
Afterwards, the entire family was left speechless. Not a word was spoken but the tears just kept coming. It seemed only fitting for my dad and Wyatt to give Lonnie a blessing at this time. My dear sweet dad lovingly choked back his tears as he blessed his oldest son with the peace and comfort he will need to make it through his remaining days on this earth. It was a beautiful, peaceful blessing. After they were done Wyatt & Tasha decided it also felt right to bless and name baby Danger so Lonnie could participate. It was an incredible day and an awesome bonding experience for my family which made it even harder to say good-bye. No one wanted the feeling to end. It is at times like this that I realize there really is a rainbow peeking from behind those dark, dreary clouds and everything will be okay.

| Someone decided to grab the camera so we would never forget this moment. We all have tear stained cheeks and we are dressed in our driving home clothes a far cry from our Sunday best. |
S'mores Round II
Saturday night we lit the fire pit so the kids (big and little) could make s'mores. This was round 2 since we had done s'mores the night before at Travis & Kellie's house. This night was even more special because Tasha introduced us to the Super S'more. This little darlin' is made out of graham crackers, peanut butter on one side, nutella on the other...1 jumbo marshmallow (which we found out they sell at Walmart in Utah) and a healthy dose of Hershey's chocolate bar. I was a little skeptical at first but after having one of these babies I will never be the same again. I could eat these special little treats every night of the week...but I won't or I will be the size of a truck. We ended up staying at Lonnie's house until almost midnight...way past his bedtime.
Saturday BBQ at Lonnie's house
Saturday was spent hanging out and visiting with family and Lonnie. My Great Aunt Glady stopped by as well as my cousins Marty, Preston and their two boys Josh and Alex. We had quite the party with most of my siblings there along with my dad and Chris.

The guys watched several Star Wars movies while the girls went shopping and fixed the grub.

The kids stayed entertained by playing four-square outside and going to the park around the corner. Early in the day Travis took the kids to his house to help him mow his lawn. I've never heard kids talk about LOVING yard work as much as mine did that day. Kellie sent me the pictures below and I was surprised to see how entertained they were by a lawn mower.
